There’s something about the fizzy burst of berries and the crisp aroma of fresh mint that instantly transports you to a breezy summer afternoon. Blackberry Mint Fizz is one of those drinks that not only cools you down but also sparks a bit of joy with every bubbly sip. Whether you’re lounging on the porch, hosting a brunch, or just winding down, this refreshing mocktail brings the perfect balance of sweet, tart, and herbaceous.

This drink came to life on a sweltering afternoon when I had a handful of overripe blackberries and a garden mint plant going wild. It felt only right to mash them together and pour in something sparkling. One experiment led to another, and the Blackberry Mint Fizz was born. It’s now a staple at family gatherings and my personal go-to for impressing guests without breaking a sweat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh blackberries
  • 10 to 12 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 2 cups sparkling water
  • Crushed ice (as needed)
  • Blackberries and mint for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large glass or shaker, muddle the blackberries and mint leaves with lemon juice and maple syrup until juicy and aromatic.
  2. If preferred, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into another glass or pitcher for a smoother drink.
  3. Fill each serving glass with crushed ice.
  4. Pour the blackberry mint mixture evenly into the glasses.
  5. Top each glass with sparkling water and stir gently to combine.
  6. Garnish with whole blackberries and a mint sprig.
  7. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.
